So, today Meg and spent the day at home. We went out once to go shopping, but this was really snooze time for Meg. She was making tired faces so I told her we are going shopping and she helped me get the buggy out. She then started to climb into the buggy and when I put her on the seat she started to try and put on the straps herself. All buckled in and she smiled and went to sleep. We hadn’t even left the house yet.
When we got back I had a chance to have a quick shower before she woke up and then we eat lunch and played. She was eating so much today, it was great to see her appetite back after her bout of cold. She has been saying a lot more words now and seems to understand Japanese more than English so I have been using the little Japanese I know a lot more. Among other words she sort of says is arigato, she doesn’t just say it though. She really says it. She gives me something, like a book, or toy and then says “arigato”. Then bows all the way down till she is nearly sitting on the ground. She does a European style bow with her hand across her stomach and not the Japanese way with her arms by her side.
I wish other people could see it but she get’s so camera shy when I try to film her and stops doing it. She also says “what’s this” when she wants’ to know something about something and will listen intently nodding her head in understanding as I explain and then say “hai hai” repeat lily like her mother, .

さて、今日、メグは、一日、家で過ごしました。一度、買い物に出掛けたけれど、メグは、眠りの中でした。疲れた顔をしていたメグに、買い物へ行こうと言うと、バギーを出すのを手伝ってくれました。そして、バギーに乗ろうとしているメグを乗せてあげると、自分で、ストラップをしようとしていました。ストラップをはめてあげると、メグは、微笑んですぐ眠りに着きました。まだ、家からも出ていないというのに。戻ってきてから、メグが起きる前にささっとシャワーをすることができました。その後、ランチを食べて遊びました。今日は、たくさん食べました。風邪をひいたあと、食欲が戻ってよかったです。たくさんお喋りをするようになりました。英語よりも日本語のほうがよく理解しているようなので、私もできる範囲で日本語を使っています。「ありがとう。」という言葉を言っているのが分かります。ただそう言っているのではなくて、ほんとうに気持ちをこめてそう言っています。例えば、本かおもちゃ何かを私に手渡し、わたしが、「ありがとう。」と言うと、「ありがとう。」と言います。そして、床に座りそうになるまで、お辞儀をします。メグのお辞儀の仕方は、手を横にする日本式ではなく、手をお腹にあてるヨーロッパ式です。他の人にも見せたいのですが、カメラを向けると恥ずかしがって止めてしまいます。それから、何かについて知りたいとき、メグは、「What’s this?」と言います。私が、説明をすると、ママのように「はい。はい。」と繰り返し言いながら、よく頷いて聞いています。
