Colour Mixing Fun

Meg, as we already know a big interest of yours is art, you love doing anything associated with arts and crafts. Earlier this week when I was filling the water trough up for the morning, I poured in a little bit of blue dye and it got mixed in to the water. I then added a little bit of red dye and it started to change from blue to a different colour. I added a little bit more of each until you could clearly see the colour which it had changed to. You were very excited to see that it had made purple. When I mixed these two colours together and they merged, you showed a great lot of excitement on your face.

Today I set up a colour merging art activity to capture your interest, and I was right. You were first at the table, intrigued by this activity that was set up.  You and Olivia came straight to the table and didn’t leave till the activity was finished, you did multiple pictures.

  • Firstly I showed you how much dye we needed, just a drop, which made a circle on your tissue paper, which soaked in to the paper, spreading slightly.  I did an example of a drop and then got you and Olivia to try.

I firstly asked you do use a drop of red, which you did, followed by yellow. I asked you to watch this carefully as it would change into a different colour. As you did the yellow circle you watched it change into Orange.
